Reducing Our Environmental Footprint While Inspiring Collaboration and Innovation

Global events bring people together to collaborate and innovate towards a common goal, but they also pose challenges in terms of sustainability. We recognize the significant environmental impact that large-scale events can have, and we feel a responsibility to adopt sustainable strategies to minimize this footprint. The extensive resource use, transportation emissions, and waste generation associated with these gatherings require careful consideration and innovative solutions.

To address these challenges, we take proactive steps wherever we can to reduce our ecological impact. Some of the ways we do this are:

  • Encouraging the use of reusable or biodegradable materials and reducing the number of single-use plastics.

  • Where possible, providing recycling and composting options, and working with local waste management services to ensure this is done correctly and efficiently.

  • Sourcing food and beverages from local suppliers, which not only reduces transportation-related carbon emissions but also supports local economies.  We work with local Chefs to design quality menus that also minimize food waste.  

  • Collaboration with technical, production and trade show vendors to choose sustainable options when securing local or international suppliers

  • Minimizing transport to avoid unnecessary emissions and encouraging the use of hybrid or electric vehicles where possible.

  • After the event, donating viable used materials to local schools, institutions, or communities for useful repurposing.   

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS FOR EVENTS

 

In 2015, the United Nations developed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - a universal call to action to protect the planet and improve human lives.  

 

These 17 SDGs include social, economic, and environmental sustainability considerations that can be applied by governments, corporations, non-profits and yes, even those of us who plan and implement events.

 

At Event Dynamics, we work toward support of these SDGs in all areas of our business.
